What is ManyChat?
Manychat is an automated direct messaging software that allows you to communicate with the people who comment on your social media posts via DMs (direct messages).
With Manychat you can send people links to things like, guides, websites, webinars, sign-up pages, landing pages, youtube videos, or anything else that has a link; the choice is really yours to make.
These links can be useful for things like lead generation, email list building, sales, customer support, engagement & more.
This blog mainly discusses how it’s used with Instagram, but Manychat is also compatible the social media platforms TikTok, Facebook Messenger & Whatsapp, the email platforms Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit, ActiveCampaign, the CRM tools Google Sheets & HubSpot and is now also compatible with Flodesk & Hotmart.
What Manychat Is Used For
Have you ever been watching an Instagram reel and the person in the reel says something like, “comment ‘Guide’ and I’ll send you my free 5 page guide on how to become the best version of yourself”?
In the video above, Riley Rehl doesn’t specifically tell people to comment “shadow work” in her reel, but instead has the prompt to do so in her caption. When people comment “shadow work” almost instantly an attachment is sent to your DMs. That specific attachment is an automatic download of a pdf. The pdf is a simple one page document with insightful questions to ask yourself.
This pdf is tackling two things at once. For starters, on the surface, this system of commenting a trigger word is building engagement. The more comments and engagement a reel gets the more the algorithm will share it. The algorithm shares the reel to more people because it registers your reel as having value.
And what is that value you ask? Well, all these algorithms want is for people to stay on their platform and their platform only. That way of thinking is part of why we have the TikTok shop in the first place. You never have to leave the app to buy something, but the topic of how to please the algorithm and create viral reels is for another blog post.
The second thing this downloadable document does for the creator is proves authority, and keeps her top of mind for a specific niche; in this case shadow work. If Riley Rehl were to ever create a course, or a non-freebie (something paid) people would be more inclined to buy it since they already have an idea of what her work looks like, makes them feel like, and has provided some kind of use for them; they trust her work.
All in all, having a Manychat account will be highly beneficial to you and there aren’t many downsides.
Eventually though, once you surpass 1,000 contacts, a contact to Manychat is a person that has interacted with your DMs, you’ll have to upgrade your free plan.
Manychat charges $15 for a pro account, which gives you access to unlimited everything. Not too bad for a platform that has been known to make plenty of content creators thousands of dollars in return with each use.
In fact, According to Forbes, MayChat user chatbots receive a 400% ROI. The same applies to sales and engagement as well.
This “comment X and and I’ll send you Y” feature does not currently work for Tiktok. The reason for this is because Tiktok’s API (application programming interface) does not allow for these kinds of comment triggers yet. As of right now there is no official word on this feature being added. However, what you can do with Tiktok is send users a message when they DM you first, when someone clicks a link, or when a user scans a QR code.
How Manychat Can Be Used For Customer Service
Now, customer service for ManyChat works a bit differently, but it still works all the same in terms of DMs and ‘trigger words’.
The most common automated support messenger people use Manychat for are things like…
Order status (“Where’s my order?”)
FAQs (shipping, refunds, ingredients, pricing, hours)
Product recommendations
Booking / appointment information
Contact information or escalation instructions
You can set up trigger words like “help”, “refund”, “order”, “shipping”, etc that will trigger the Manychat chat box to send your customer a prompt of your choosing.
That way if a customer asks, “Where’s my order”? The word “order” can be set up to trigger the chat box to answer the question of where their order is.
This way your customer is satisfied with a timely response, and you don’t have to use your precious time as a business owner to answer commonly asked questions or track down orders.
Who Is Manychat Useful For
